Team Conversation
Dimwits :
The future looks to be bright for the Vipers franchise, who cleared out most of their AAA talent with a replenished group of promising prospects.
Dimwits :
The new look Vipers will be rocking plenty of Nightcrawlers alumni, with their provincial rivals agreeing to send a bevy of players, most notably LF backup Danny Dunn, longtime backstop Bobby Jarman, and 2B Adolfo Bolduc.
Dimwits :
The Vipers have finished 2nd in their division for four consecutive season dating back to S159. They have not won a divisional pennant since S154, when they went 47-13.
Dimwits :
Both bring immense knowledge of baseball into Calgary, who are in desperate need of a refresh despite having posted winning records for the past twelve seasons.
Dimwits :
Arevalo, 33, rejoins the Vipers circuit after a brief retirement follow S161. He spent all ten seasons of his playing career with organization, becoming a starter in S156 & S157 before transitioning to a relief role in the bullpen.
Dimwits :
Boyce, 40, was a speed demon in his playing days between S153 and his eventual release / retirement in S158. He looks to turn the clubhouse from annual also-rans into contenders following their move to Silver Sunset to compete in the South Division.
Dimwits :
The Vipers have officially announced the hiring of former shortstop Vernon Boyce as the next manager for Calgary, alongside former pitcher Severo Arevalo serving as pitching coach.
Dimwits :
Calgary looks to find a managerial replacement this off season with serious conversations planned to take about the direction of the organization moving forward.
Dimwits :
Ace Chan Nava was promptly pulled after only two innings, but the decision to leave in his relief replacement Maurice Babin after giving up 10 hits and 6 runs in as many innings pitched was what did the former catcher in.
Dimwits :
Vipers skipper Louis Armstrong has been subsequently fired by the team after a swift exit from the wildcard round. The team lost in abysmal fashion, dropping their matchup against EasternShoreMD 10-2.
