Season 128 Playoff Preview

Dec 21st 2023 By Los Angeles Hot Rods

The Season 128 Playoffs are underway today, with the first round of the League Playoffs starting this morning. Several familiar faces are at the top of the rankings once again, but this year there's been a handful of newcomer teams surprising many and having breakout performances.

The St. Johns Codfish are a familiar face at the top of the World Rankings. It's no surprise that their 50-10 effort this season has placed them at #1. This version of the Codfish is one of the best in recent memory and bolsters an elite veteran pitching duo in Cullen Conte and Keon Pack. The Codfish are always a World Title threat, and this season seems like it could be their opportunity to grab their third World Title.

Jumping a little bit down the rankings, tied for #3 in the world is the Louisville Wild Turkeys, who jumped out to a hot start this season with a record of 28-2 in the first half of the year. This is a team that's captured two league titles already, and they look poised to make a run at the World Title this season.

The Laredo Lobos are a powerhouse hitting squad that finished with an impressive 46 wins this season. The Lobos have the highest team AVG in the world at .326 and have 500 runs total on the season, including 209 home runs. The Lobos have the potential to bat their way through the playoffs and end up making a run for the title.

Moving back up to the top of the rankings, the #2 team in the world the Seattle Cyclones are certainly in prime form. This is a team that has a 9-man lineup that's one of the best units in Franchise Ball at the moment, as they batted .315 together. The Cyclones cruised to 49 wins on the season and are flaming hot entering the playoffs, winning 16 straight.

Lastly, a team in the Wildcard Tournament that could potentially make some noise is the Buffalo Kanen zaks. The Kanen zaks were an elite team to start the year. The team went 24-6 in the first half of the season, only to cool down to 17-13 in the second half. Still, this team is a talented young squad that could take their current 6-game winning streak and make a deep run in the playoffs.

There are plenty of other notable names that are in serious contention for a title, but these names stand out from the crowd as some of the best candidates to win it all.

Good luck to all teams in the Season 128 playoffs!

If you're looking for a new story, my team is proof that free teams can still go the distance; I'm sure there are other free teams that have done it before, too, but it doesn't happen too often
