Ending the curse: The story of the Season 108  St. Johns Deadly sins by Phoenix Diablos

In Season 107, the Deadly sins lost in a 2-0 heartbreaking sweep to the Fort Lauderdale Waves in the World Series. This was not the only time they lost in the World Series though. He made it to the World Series probably 5 or 6 times. Maybe more or less. He lost all of those games. It got to the point where it infamously was called the St. Johns Curse. Ever since he lost in the Season 107 World Series, he smelled revenge in the water.
He finished Season 108 with the number 1 World rank with an impressive record of 52-8. We grown used to him winning 50 games though because that's how good he is. Although he has been on Franchise Ball for 24 seasons, he is one of the most experienced teams in the game.
His first target was in round one of the Sigma Glacier League Playoffs. The Deadly sins narrowly managed to squeak out a 3-2 win to a dead team. Game 2 didn't necessarily go Deadly sins way as the dead team they were facing won 8-7 to knot the Series at 1 a piece. That sparked something in this seemingly dangerous Deadly sins team as the pummeled the dead team in Game 3, 6-1. That set up a little date with a powerful Tampa Bay Thunderbirds offense in Round 2.
This Series didn't exactly live up to the hype but it was still intense either way. In Game 1, the Deadly sins found themselves up 5-1 heading into the 4th inning. The Thunderbirds very slowly tried to commit a comeback but fell short in the end, 6-3. Game 2 was all Deadly sins. They ran over the Thunderbirds offense like a semi-truck running over a deer in the middle of the road. The Deadly sins won 7-2 to sweep the Thunderbirds ending their incredible season. The next victim on the waiting list was Oceanside Retirement Home. Game 1 was rather ugly for Sins, getting smacked 8-4. Game 2, Deadly sins came back down 3-1 to close out a 4-3 victory. That set up a pivotal game 3. The winner would advance to the World Playoffs. Game 3, Deadly sins absolutely obliterated Retirement Home, 8-3, to win their 11th League title and advanced to the World Playoffs.
Their first opponent was the Toronto Blue Jays where the Sins silenced their offense, 5-0. The Sins had a bye in the Quarterfinals. Then, the New Orleans Cotton Pickers came to town. The Deadly sins ended their Cinderella season, 7-1, to advance to the World Series where the Fort Lauderdale Waves were waiting for them for a Season 107 World Series rematch.
This Series most likely was the most entertaining World Series in Franchise Ball history. The Deadly sins won a close one at home for Game 1, 3-1. Fort Lauderdale Waves bounced back in Game 2, though the Deadly sins attempted to make a comeback but fell short, 9-5. Game 3 was a narrow win for the Waves, 6-5. All of a sudden, the Deadly sins found themselves down 2-1 in the Series. Facing the improbable odds of making a wild comeback, they knew exactly what to do: Shock the world.
The Deadly Sins barely beat the Waves, 2-1, to force a pivotal win-or-go-home Game 5. The Waves found themselves up 6-5 heading into the bottom of the 6th with their eyes locked on their 2nd consecutive World title. The Deadly Sins had other plans. They scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, highlighted by a Quincy Peek rbi single and a Jorden Smallwood rbi single. Chavarrio gets handed the game ball and he sure did deliver, carrying the Deadly Sins to their 1st World title in team history.
If you got this far, you are a legend. Now, it's the moment you have all been waiting for. Enjoy this interview segment featuring the world champion!
Diablos: What was your reaction when you won your first ever World title?
Deadly Sins: My reaction to winning my first ever World title was pure joy. I've put so much time into this game and was starting to think I was actually cursed lol so actually there was a lot of relief involved as well.
Diablos: Who inspired you to build a championship-caliber team?
Deadly Sins: The person that inspired me to build a championship caliber team was definitely Codfish, he is the one that got me involved in the game and at the same time he was doing quite well and of course the competitive side of me wanted to prove I could do it too.
Diablos: If you were to pick an MVP of the WS on your team, who would it be?
Deadly Sins: For an MVP, I would pick Jaramillo who pitched his way to 2 of my 3 wins during the series and was key in the game 1 win.
Diablos: What would you say to everyone supporting you in the World Series as well as Waves himself?
Deadly Sins: I would like to say thank you to everyone supporting me, the community rooting me on was something I hadn't anticipated starting out playing this game but it really made the win that much sweeter...and to Waves, I would say thank you for being a great sport and fielding one of the best teams, the fact his team is so good makes this win mean even more to me.
