You obviously won't find all the best players right off the bat but once you put a little time into it you'll get there

Go to rankings and look at the top teams in the league and their rosters. It varies a bit, but it should give you an idea of where you should head as far as players go

If you're a free team, on the last day of the month everybody has unlimited trades so I would make a lot of moves on that day. Bids help a lot too
