Player Marketplace Interface Help

The Player Marketplace interface is your gateway to acquiring new players. The 3 modules in this interface provide you with tools for bidding on players, setting up trade proposals with other teams, and utilizing the seasonal player draft to acquire new young talent. The sections below outline the tools available for each module.

Bidding :

The bidding module helps you find players to bid on. You can access player bid interfaces from other pages as well, this is just the main search interface for this purpose. The left side of the bidding module has 4 context tabs : 'Criteria", "Search", "Watch List" and "My Bids". The right side is the bidding interface. This opens up when a player is selected from the list populated by the context built from the left side. Instructions on using each of the 4 tabs follows.

  • Criteria : The main context filters your league's name and World specify the scope of players you are searching within. By default, your search is constrained to your league only. Around this are more filters : "Major" and "Minor", "Position", "Most Bids", "Bid Value", "Recent Bids", "Hitting Stat", and "Pitching Stat". Selecting a pitching stat will turn off your currently selected hitting stat, and visa-versa. You can also open a player list based on their bid activity (refer to the 3 bid options listed). Simply select the desired criteria inputs, and the list below will update accordingly.

  • Search : This tab allows you to search by player name. Simply enter in part of a name, or the entire name you are search for and the results will populate in the list below.

  • Watch List : This tab provides a way for you to views your individual watch lists. This is a quick way to access the bidding interface for players you are keeping track of.

  • My Bids : This tab shows you 3 options : "Most Bids", "Bid Value", and "Recent Bids". Clicking one of the options will populate a list of players that filters your bids only. This provides an easy way for you to follow up on the progress of your bids.

The bidding interface that loads on the left side of the module allows you to place and remove bids. The top bid is on the left side above basic stats for the player selected. Below is a list of the current bids active for the player. Click the "Place Bid" button to place your bid. The current winning bid is on the top of this list. Once you bid, you can remove a bid by clicking the "Remove Bid" button, or you can click your entry in the list. It will highlight in red. Simply click the list item to follow through with your removal. To Raise your bid, click the "Raise Bid" button. This will raise your bid by $100k GC. All bid increments must be raised by a factor $100k GC. Click here for more detailed information on how Franchise Ball's bidding system operates.

Trading :

To propose a trade with a team, goto the Player Marketplace, and click on the Trading tab. In the Trading module is where you setup your trade proposal. You may select a combination of up to 3 players to offer, and up to 3 for your request. Simply click the player(s) and click the arrow buttons transfer them into the proposal. Click Request Trade to submit the trade for confirmation.

In the next screen you will get a comprehensive view of your proposal including a mysterious if unexplained value called the "Fair Value Score" associated with the trade. If you click the value or the link above you will get an explanation of what it means. Basically what this is, is a sum of the FTV's of your incoming vs outgoing players. The more detailed explanation is follows :

"The fair value criteria (FTV) requirement is a number that represents the difference in strength of the proposal. Each player has a fair value. This value is based on the player's current season and last season's stats [ The sum of the these values for incoming players ] - [ Sum of the values for outgoing players ] is this value. The FTV score must be +/- 3 to pass the requirement."

If your trade doesn't meet the fair trade value criteria, you may need to modify it. Once your trade is ready, simply click "submit" and the other team in the deal will be alerted of your offering. The other team will have until the end of the season to accept or decline your offer. Your players will be transferred to each other immediately upon the other party accepting your offer. You may place a trade at any time. By default you have a limited number of trades you can use per season (trades that are executed that is, you can request as many trades as you want). If you want to increase these limitations, you have the option to upgrade your membership.

Draft :

The draft is a seasonal occurrence that happens at different times for each time. Each League has its own separate draft. When the draft is active for the season, your draft day and time is listed on the right side of the module. On the left side is a list of players and your draft pick list. Simply select a player from the list and it will be added to your draft picks. The idea is to create a pick priority list.

As the season progresses, 2 picks will be selected 3 times a day (3 rounds) on a per team basis. The top pick goes to the worst record by team winning percentage in your league from the previous season, all the way through to the top team in your league. Each round may potentially offer players you've picked to other teams that have the same picks. This is why creating a long list for your priorities is necessary. Simply drag and drop your players on in your draft pick list to change their order of priority.

You do not have to participate in the draft, and it is likely that your picks will not be selected if you had a high winning percentage from the previous season. The draft is worth participating in if your building for the future or searching for younger talent.
