Awards + Other Stuff
Hey, this is Canberra again, with some belated Season 100 Awards + Hall of Fame. After that, I have some stuff to say regarding me and my status on FB. But first, for the stuff that you actually want to hear.
David Ladner Award (MVP): Khalil Chapa: Chapa absolutely dominated throughout Season 100, smashing the ball at a .445 clip with 30 2-baggers and 32 bombs for an exceptional 85 RBIs while slugging .919. Since he was a rookie, the Rookie of the Year Award is henceforth renamed the Apocada-Chapa Award, named after Chapa and former Peace Shark Victoro Apocada, who smashed .442 back in Season 93.
Isaac Barkley Award (Best Pitcher): Noberto Tejeda: While Chapa ripped up pitchers, he wouldn’t have been able to get to Tejeda, who silenced bats all year long. He finished the centennial season at a stunning 13-0 with a 1.92 ERA and 0.820 WHIP. He struck out 110 players in 122 innings of work, and it’s unlikely Cambridge would have won the division if not for him. He also hit 3 homers as a pitcher, which is a relatively high number for having 30 Contact.
Rhett Beltran Releiver of the Year: Adrian DeLeon: DeLeon’s 14th season was one to remember, as he obliterated teams for a 0.750 WHIP and 2.36 ERA out of the ‘pen, while going 8-2 with 17 saves. He also struck out 70 and walked just 2 in his 84 innings of work and also scored a run as a hitter!
Apocada-Soper Rookie of the Year: Khalil Chapa: Just read the MVP part and you’ll understand why he might win ROTY :)
Now, for two announcements/statements
We thank the Seattle Marvols and Seattle Cyclones for their services on the Hall of Fame Committee, however, after not responding last month, I’ve decided that it’s time to move on from them. And you know what that means…
1. It’s Hall of Fame Committee Hiring Time!!!
I am accepting any and all applications to be on the most prestigious committee on this website (then again, this is like, the only one, but whatever) until the 13th of October! I may/may not come up with some questions, or perhaps I’ll use my secret formula for deciding which two get in! I don’t know and you won’t either! But anyways, feel free to apply in this news feed, on my team page, over private messages on the forum, or via Discord message (NotSoGood88#4167).
2. Me And My Status With FB
As many of you know, I haven’t been super active for a while. Except for last season. I poured everything I had into winning, went 50-9… and lost in the 1st round of the league playoffs, which left me in an angry huff. And a few days ago, I decided that I was going to cancel my account. FB didn’t seem fun to me anymore, and neither did awards, so I thought, “Eh, I’ll leave and leave with a flair.” So in the “why did you decide to cancel your account” box, I completely blasted the system of FB and felt determined to not tell anyone else I was leaving and follow through. Then, about midday today, I saw a message in my inbox from Josh that’s subject was “don’t go!” and later saw an email saying that he didn’t want me to leave and that if there was anything I could do to change his mind. In retrospect, I had a lot of leverage then, but rather I realized that I could just do Awards full-time and be very laissez-faire in managing my team and instead try to improve the awards and help out FB. Hence my new team name. Y’all feel free to send me suggestions on how to make awards better, I’m not saying I’ll do them all, but it’s nice having a new perspective. All Stars should be back this season after a 5-ish season hiatus as well.
Awards Masters :)
HOF coming out tomorrow.
