@Quarry - There is a definite "boost" given to new teams for the first ~5 or so seasons, where their players out-perform how they would have on other teams. So you're seeing the benefit of putting the effort in to get a decent team put together

He kind of is holding entirely on his own merit lol he built the team from the ground up ffs haha
If you look at my team profile, you'll see that I even openly said "I'd like to thank the boost for this victory" when I won the WS. Because I was probably still boosted. It is what it is.
