So that does it for today's coverage of Game 1. Game 2 is next, first pitch at 2pm, as the Renegades will look to put the Spitters' backs against the wall and the Spitters will look to end the Gades' 11-game playoff winning streak and get even
Jaramillo and Bennett were right up there today as well, and Hernando Benitez's 3-hit day for Eugene was the highlight of their offense.
Hard to choose between Zeke Jaramillo and Donny Martens for your Topps Player of the Game, but we just have to give it Martens. This was a game decided by pitching and defense, and the 34-year-old veteran shook off a year of cobwebs to dazzle today.
A 9th inning 2-run homer off the bat of the hitherto hitless Ross Funk wrapped it up, as 2 scoreless innings for Dalton Damico featured 2 outstanding double plays, including one by Beard to end the ballgame.
