Here at Dutchess Stadium, I'm Greg Hudson and that's all for now, we'll see you in a few hours as this April season gets into full swing!
For the Solons, a tough loss but there's no time to dwell. They'll look to get off the mark at 2pm as they slide down to DC to face the Black Knights, who lost 2-1 in 10 innings to open the season.
So the Renegades start 1-0 and they'll look to move to 2-0 as they stay right here in NY for a video-game matchup at 2pm against the Toronto MLBtheShow.
It wasn't a bad outing for Fender, he allowed just 4 hits and 2 walks across 5 innings, but a pair of homers accounted for all 3 Renegades runs, putting Fender on the hook for his first loss of the season.
Selby's 2-run homer was the difference in this ballgame, but today's Topps Player of the Game is Renegades starter Dalton Damico. He went 7 strong, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, fanning 7.
So the Renegades continue their incredible Opening Day record with a 3-1 win. Thurman went 2-for-3 and got the party started with his solo homer in the first.
Dalton Damico comes in and closes it out. Nothing across in the final two innings and he tallies his first save along with a pair of strikeouts!
Baumgartner hits a chopper to second and Cardenas has it, throws to first and that's 7 strong innings for Roman Gilmore. If that's the last we see of him today, have yourself an Opening Day, Roman!
Gilmore registers his second strikeout of Register, his 7th of the game in his 7th inning of work.
The Renegades are on top 3-1 as we head to the home 6th. Great outing thus far from Roman Gilmore.
