Frostbite: The Story of the Season 109 Denver Frost Dragons by Houston Astronauts

Hey everyone! Houston Astronauts (formerly Phoenix Diablos) here! Here is my article recapping the Season 109 playoffs!
Coming off of the 2nd best record in team history (47-13), the Denver Frost Dragons had their sights locked on one particular objective: Obtain the 1st World title in team history. But, they knew that wouldn't be easy.
Their 1st opponent was the Saskatoon Charlees Angels. Based off the final scores in both of the games (8-1 & 5-2), the Frost Dragons didn't appear to show any anxiety in that 1st series. Then, a dynamic St. Johns Peace Sharks stood in their way for the 2nd round.
This was a rather tighter series than the last one but it was the same result: a Frost Dragons sweep. Final scores were 5-2 and 3-2. That set up a date between the Orlando Riyas and the Denver Frost Dragons. A showdown between pitching and offense.
The Riyas took a commanding 1-0 series lead after edging out the Dragons, 5-2. Feeling the pressure, the Dragons knew they needed momentum heading into the 2nd game. The 2nd inning was a solid start for a hungry Dragons team. Then, Derick Picardo of the Orlando Riyas made the Frost Dragons fans drip with sweat after launching a 2 run homer, trimming the Frost Dragons 3 run lead down to 1. But, the pitching sealed the deal and that set up a pivotal win-or-go home game 3. This was a back and forth game. Former Aces legend, Rufio Villalobos, got the scoring started with a solo blast to right. Then, Alijah Hughes helped the Riyas answer with a sacrifice fly. Lewis Herrmann of the Frost Dragons responded with a solo bomb to left. Jayden Pierson blooped a single to right center to bring both of these deadly teams to extras. Then, Gino Cormier happened. He crushed a soon-to-be clutch 2 run ding dong to put the Frost Dragons up 4-2. Roman Holloman shuts down the Riyas to send the Frost Dragons to their first ever World Playoffs appearance. That's where the party began.
A successful St. Johns Codfish team fell victim to this spectacular Frost Dragons team, getting completely shut down 4-0. The next team to dare the Frost Dragons was the Miami Eastsiders who got annihilated, 6-3. Then, the Spokane Warriors came to town and Magic sprinkled down on the city of Denver.
This was a memorable game for the Frost Dragons. They found themselves tied 4-4 heading to the bottom of the 9th. Everyone turned their heads to Tre Wills...and he delivered. He demolished a walk off 2 run homer to send the hometown crowd into a frenzy and sent the Frost Dragons to their first-ever World Series. There, a legendary San Diego Giants team awaited them.
The Giants dominated the first game 7-3. The Frost Dragons narrowly beat the Giants in the 2nd game 5-4. The Giants again dominated the 3rd game 6-2. Then, it was the Frost Dragons turn to dominate. They obliterated the Giants 9-2 to set up a pivotal win-or-go home game 5. There the legend of Tre Wills was reborn. He hit a clutch rbi single to send the Frost Dragons to their first ever World title. And on that note, I have the World champion with me right now (not personally but digitally. Good luck trying to understand what I am saying lol) to give his thoughts on his championship run.
Astronauts: How does it feel to be a champion for the first time in team history?
Frost Dragons: It feels amazing honestly. I can't describe the feeling of working on a team for a little over a year and the work really does pay off. You always need to trust and believe in your team and never ever give up and stick with your guys.
Astronauts: If you would give a player an mvp, who would it be?
Frost Dragons: Tre Wills easily. There's no need for an explanation. He sent me to the World Series after a walk off vs Warriors. He was just solid all postseason. There's not much more I can ask for from a player.
Astronauts: Who would you like to thank for mentoring you and believing in you?
Frost Dragons: Pittsburgh Mavericks. He's my brother and he really motivated me into playing this game and making a great team and I've attached with this game really well and I wanna shout out to everyone else who believed in me. The Rattlers (Tacoma Storm), Bombers, Aces, Riyas, Thunderbirds, etc etc etc.

Well, there you have it. Everyone I present to you the Season 109 World champion: Denver Frost Dragons! And with that, this is Houston Astronauts signing off. Thank you everyone for reading this and I wish you guys the best of luck this season!
