The Story of the Season 106 Mount Vernon Boxers

53 seasons ago, a dynasty was born. At least, nobody at the moment knew he was going to be a dynasty-level team. 4 league titles and 18 division titles later, something magical happened in Mount Vernon.
It all started in Round 1 of the League playoffs. They showed the Nashville Rattlers no mercy, sweeping them in 2 games. The first game was a tight battle but the second was a bloodbath.
Then, they played host to the Minneapolis Gophers where they duked it out in 3 games. It was a back and forth series. The first game belonged to the Boxers where they smacked the Gophers 4-1. The second game was a slugfest. 19 combined runs contributed for both of the phenomenal teams. When the dust cleared, the Gophers emerged victorious, clinging onto a 10-9 upset win over the Boxers. That seemed to add fuel to an already dangerous Boxers lineup. They smelled blood in the water when the 2 clubs battled in a win-or-go home game. The Boxers were desperate for revenge which they have redeemed in a 6-4 victory over the Gophers. Then, they had to await a fearsome challenge.
The St. Johns Codfish, coming off a stunning sweep of the Tulsa Tornados, were looking to make it 2 straight shockers. The Boxers had other plans. Down 5-3 in the bottom of the 9th, Boxers fans were on their feet hoping for a miracle. The Boxers treated them to one in an epic walk off comeback win over the Codfish, beating them 6-5. Codfish fans were beginning to feel the intense pressure when the Boxers came to town. They dominated them in a 7-4 shootout win over the Codfish and for the 19th time in Boxers history, they were League champions. Then, things got very wild.
The Boxers and Horned Frogs played in an epic 11 inning game. Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 11th, the stadium was rocking as Santos Soule stepped up to the plate. He cranked the ball to right center as the runner sprinted home and sent Boxers fans into a frenzy as their team eliminated the defending world champions . Then, their biggest challenge yet awaited them.
The Boxers hosted the Guasave Algodoneros in front of their beloved fans. The game started off with a rocky start when Cason Torrence blasted a 3 run homer to left center. That didn't appear to faze the Boxers where they scored 6 unanswered runs before the Algodoneros finally answered back in the top of the 8th with a solo bomb by Evan Hume. It didn't help his team's chances of reaching the World Series though because the Boxers secured a 6-4 win and for the first time in Franchise history, they were heading to the World Series.
In an anticipated showdown between two teams searching for their first World titles, a lot of pressure was on St. Johns Peace Sharks and Mount Vernon Boxers. Game 1 started off with a hot start for the Boxers when they jumped to a 4-1 lead over the Peace Sharks. The Peace Sharks started a mini rally in the top of the 7th but 2 runs was all they could manage as the Boxers held on to a 4-3 win over the Peace Sharks. In game 2, things got real intense. Normando Tovar got the Peace Sharks on the board early in the 3rd inning with an rbi single. Jayden Drury answered with a sacrifice fly to knot the game up at 1 a piece. That was all the fans got to see...until the bottom of the 10th. Noe Collazo speared an 2 run double to dead center to make the stadium explode in applause. Boxers fans could feel history in their grasp as their beloved team traveled to St. Johns where they had their eyes locked on the ultimate prize. Up 7-3 in the bottom of the 9th, 2 men on base with 2 out, the pressure was on Montae Loera. He hurled a fastball to Casimiro Robledo. He swung...and missed! For the first time in Franchise history, the Mount Vernon Boxers are World champions and they can proudly say they will forever be World champions.

Congratulations on an incredible season, Boxers. You guys stunned the world. You deserved it. Cheers to many more!
