The Curse of Cincinnati
With a team value over 2 billion dollars, a great payroll, and amazing players, the Cincinnati Reds are deemed to win it all every year by some people. With their top-tier offense and their immense pitching, the Reds breeze through the regular season with a trip to the playoffs each year. However, those playoffs are not the same. And that is because of the curse of Cincinnati. Many stories about the curse are spread around, and nobody is sure which is right. But let's talk about how the curse affects the team.
Before we dive into their playoff success, let's talk about their regular season success. To sum it up, 45+ wins and no division title. That is because of the Bombers. To be honest, the Reds have 3 times better scout ratings than the Bombers players, but the difference is that the Bombers look at talent and player performance also, while the Reds do not really.
And the playoffs are just heartbreaking year after year. In the past few seasons, they have been heartbroken again and again. But season 93 was different. Because that is when they won their first league title in a while. With excellent offense, and a demolition of the Mets and a close win against the Orioles, the Reds were World Series bound.
It seemed like the curse was over. Fans in Cincinnati were screaming. Their last matchup - the Stamford Demo Yankees. Everyone was talking about an easy sweep, and if not that, then a 3-1 Reds victory. Well, the series ended 3-1, but the Demo Yankees came out on top. The curse lived on.
The Reds have made so many moves - with FA, trades, and much more. But the same question remains - will the Curse of Cincinnati live on?
