Day 2 Highlights

Day 2 was full of some epic games. There will be 4 games from each time slot (9, 2, and 7)

9 A.M.
Atlanta Firebirds 8, Alexandria Yankees 7: This was a real thriller, as the Firebirds scored 2 runs in the 1st before the Yankees scored 3 unanswered runs in the next 2 innings. Atlanta fired back with 2 in the bottom of the 3rd, only to allow Alexandria to score 2 in the top of the 4th. The Yankees added 2 in the 8th before the Firebirds hit a walk off sac fly.

Milwaukee Brewers 1,Hollywood Hollies 0: This game was an obvious choice, given that Darrell Hermann, an unspectacular 81-87-73-89, threw a perfect game. In his 1st start. Hermann struck out 9, but was no slouch on offense. He was 1-2 with the game winning RBI single.

Columbus Storm 14, San Francisco Goats 2: This game looked like it had the makings of a pitcher’s duel after the teams battled out 4 scoreless innings. Then, the bats came alive for Columbus as Nathanl Maynard hit a 3-run homer. The Goats answered with a 2-run shot by pitcher Quentin Lantz, but Columbus kept on rolling up the runs. Augustin Vallardes led the way with a 4-6 performance with 2 doubles, a dinger, and 4 RBIs, and the Storm racked up 23 hits in the contest.

Buffalo Charge 23, Las Vegas Outlaws, 8: Ryan Dover hit a leadoff homer and the Charge never looked back. Though Brendan Saenz pitched 8 shaky innings, every Charge player got a hit and 7 got 3 or more. After recording 30 hits, the Charge look like nothing to sneeze at.
2 P.M.
Portland Venom 3, Victoria Okanagan Heat 2: Francis Leach made his 1st ever Venom start in this game, and made it in style, carrying a no-hitter through 8.2 innings before surrendering a hit to Jesus Gauthier. He then walked Jamil Fuentes, before giving up a 2-run double to Alejandro Gragg, before striking out Jakob Mock, his 14th K of the day.

Seattle Cyclones 12, Boston Red Sox 8: This was a real thriller, with Seattle striking first with a 3-run shot by Gaspard Garay, but Red Sox went on a 8-2 run and led 8-5 with 1 out in the 9th before scoring 7 runs against Isiah Thayer before getting the 2nd out. 3B Sterling Dasilva went 5-6 while Garay was 3-4 with 1 double, 1 walk, and 1 homer with 6 RBIs.

Chicago Long Legs 6, San Diego Doras Explorer 0: A no hitter that made it all the way. Mediocre pitcher Tariq Tatum (59-69-73-94) managed the feat of a lifetime and added a solo homer, and struck out 8 while walking 2. Lewis Knudsen was the highlight of the Long Legs batting attack, finishing 3-4 with 1 HR and 1 RBI.

Mayagüez Criollos 6, Philadelphia Woodpeckers, 4: The Criollos, a 29-31 team in 90, upset the 48-12, 1st in Epsilon Peak, league finalist Philly with a 5 run top of the 9th. Leading 3-1 after 8 innings, Latrell Poore gave up a leadoff homer to Seth Knight and allowed a double to Chaz Bozeman before being pulled. Landon Medrano came into pitch and got 2 quick outs, with a single and a sac fly. Philly was tied 3-3 and had a chance to get out of the inning, but Nasir Garza hit an RBI single and Duane Foley hit a 2-run homer. The Woodpeckers scored 1 run in the bottom of the 9th, but it was not enough.
7 P.M.
Columbus Average Joes, 9, Boston Hawks, 8: Boston, who recently removed the “Dedham” from its name, played a thriller. Both teams scored 2 in the 2nd, but the Average Joes outscored the Hawks 3-1 in the 4th, while the Hawks countered with a 2-1 5th and scored 3 runs in the 7th. The Joes led off the 9th with a homer, and after a strikeout, another homer followed, then a triple by PH Zack McKay. DH Joel Boggs hit a walk off sac fly to end the thriller. Humberto Peres led the Joes’ attack, going 4-4 with 2 homers and 3 RBIs, including the leadoff HR in the 9th.

Eugene Spitters, 4, San Diego Doras Explorer, 0: It seems like today was full of pitching, as the Spitters ace, Kristofer Burbank, took a no hitter 8.1 innings before allowing 2 singles. He struck out 9 and walked one, while Montego Jasso was the best hitter at 3-4 with 1 HR and 1 RBI.

Los Angeles Mandalorians 4, Baltimore Ravens 3, 19 Innings: Yes, you saw that correctly. 19 INNINGS. The Ravens, who have had winning records in all their seasons prior, fell to the wrath of FB’s newest hot team as LA improved to 6-0. Korbin Edge of LA went the distance, allowing 15 hits and 3 runs while striking out 18 and walking 3. Tyrese Cross kept the game from hitting 20 with a walk off triple.

SashaMeeks 11, EROsoosque 0: Some of the teams with the oddest names faced off, and this one wasn’t pretty. SashaMeeks hasn’t logged in for a month and EROsoosque for 3 weeks, but they missed something special. SashaMeeks scored all their runs in the first 5 innings before effectively mercy-ruling the opposition. Pitcher Koby Roderick dominated on both sides, throwing a 3-hitter with 7 Ks and 1 walk while also going 2-5 with a triple and 2 RBIs.

Alexandria Yankees
