Giants-Two Time Decade Champions

Sep 26th 2020 By Edmonton Robins

“That is BOMB, DEEP GONE! 6-4 NOW! Can the Reds make a comeback?” That was the top of the 9th inning when the Cincinnati Reds were trying to come back. Anguish was in every Giants fan at the stadium. Knowing that it could be a win for them in two outs or the opposite where they would be thinking about extra innings. “Here is the pitch, he got him on a flyout! TWO OUTS!” Everyone was on their toes for the last out. They knew what could happen and they knew it would be a part of history. This is the most terrifying moment Irizarry has ever had he said later in an interview. One wrong move and their lead could eventually be obliterated into pieces. Ball 1 low, Ball 2, high, Strike 1 on the corner, Strike 2, got him on the curve, Ball 3 high. It is full count. It could either be game over or the tying run could be set to the plate. Irizarry delivered a changeup… It was the best pitch he would ever throw in his life. “Irizarry, the pitch, soft grounder along the first baseline, sidearm from Dent, the Giants… WIN THE WORLD SERIES! IT IS OVER, THE GIANTS HAVE WON IT ALL! They end the decade with 2 World Series.

The season has ended and the Giants are ranked 3 in the world with a 50+ win season in the books.

This is a great place to start. 310 AVG. and a 3.8 ERA is always a great way to end the season. Their pitching was led by two triple 90s: Ruiz and Ebert. Their hitting was on point lead by Roach with 30 HR’s on the year with a 367 AVG. That is a definition of a good season. The Epsilon Peak playoffs are not that forgiving because you have Codfish and Ohawks who are best known for their wonderful offensive performances. On top of that, this was the first time the Ohwaks have had their pitching under control which you do not want to mess with speaking they had won a WS just a couple seasons back. The Giants went into the playoffs though in high spirits hoping to create 2 miracles in a decade.

Buffalo Lights @ San Diego Giants

Leonel Jarrell opened the scoring with a solo shot. After the fifth inning, the Giants were leading 4-0. In the eighth Geraldo Benavidez hit a base-clearing double and after the bottom of the eighth, the Giants were leading 8-0. The Giants were backed up by the Tejano Ruiz one-hitter complete-game shutout, and the Giants were onto Epsilon Peak the semi-finals.

Tulsa Tornadoes @ San Diego Giants

The semi-finals were pretty chill from the start. Jaime hit a sac-fly in the first inning and there was no looking back after the 6th. The Giants blew the game up hitting left and right. The championship was set to be a more interesting game speaking that the Tornadoes upset the Codfish in round 2. The Giants eventually hit it home with a Grand Slam clearing the base. “Noble, deep, see you later!” That closed it up for the Giants and they became League Champs.
The World playoffs were pretty chill for the Giants, they got two decent wins and they moved on to the World Series. Skipping ahead to Game 3 and the series was tied up. It was relatively low scoring and 3-0 for most of the game in Giant’s favor. The Reds almost came back and put up 2 runs in the 5th. It was now 3-2. The Giants needed offense fast to blow up the game. They did just that. They blew up though in the 6th inning putting 2 homers and a double creating 2 runs to extend their lead. It came down to the final 3 outs. With one out the Reds hit a bomb out of the stadium to try and give them at least a bit of a 9th inning comeback. But the bullpen did their job. The Giants took their second WS at the end of the decade. Congrats Giants! Good luck everyone for Seasons 90 to 100.
