Season 101 Awards
David Ladner MVP Award: Jonatan Pham, SS
Season 101 Stats: 120-279 (.430 AVG), 16 2B, 2 3B, 35 HR, 86 RBI, .878 SLG
I mean, an .878 slugging percentage and 35 homers is absolutely astounding. Especially being able to keep up the slugging percentage for over 275 at bats is astounding. Yes, he’s on the homer loving FISH TOWN, but stats don’t lie, y’all.
Isaac Barkley Pitcher of the Year: Miguel Gallardo, SP
Season 101 Stats: 10-2, 109 IP, 22 ER, 106 K, 10 BB, 1.82 ERA, 0.725 WHIP
Gallardo had been quite a successful pitcher for quite a while, but he hadn’t posted a sub-3 ERA since Season 92. 1 decade later, however, that changed. Gallardo absolutely dominated the competition, stifling opponents to a 0.725 WHIP and 1.82 ERA over 109 innings. However, his amazing work still wasn’t enough to get the Giants a division title, somehow.
Rhett Beltran Reliever of the Year: Charro Ibarra
Season 101 Pitching Stats: 8-0, 20 SV, 53 IP, 10 ER, 51 K, 3 BB, 1.70 ERA, 0.906 WHIP
Season 101 Hitting Stats: 1-8 (.125 AVG), 1 HR, 2 RBI, .500 SLG
Ibarra was extremely dominant on the season, as he was responsible for 28 wins and, amazingly, 0 losses on the season, while Red Sox 1 went 19-13 in games in which he had a no-decision or did not pitch. He even managed to hit a 2-run blast that year and finish with a respectable .625 OPS. Not bad for a pitcher!
Apocada-Chapa Rookie of the Year: Jaime Anders, SP
Season 101 Pitching Stats: 8-4, 111 IP, 28 ER, 105 K, 12 BB, 2.27 ERA, 0.757 WHIP
Season 101 Hitting Stats: 4-31 (.129 AVG), 1 3B, 1 RBI, .194 SLG
Anders was a monster on the mound in 101 (albeit a monstrosity at the plate), racking up 8 wins in his rookie season with 105 pin shouts and a suffocating WHIP of 0.757. However, like Gallardo, his heroics somehow couldn’t get the team a division title.
