Franchise Ball News

2020

Jan 1st 2021 By Portland Cobras

Happy New Year everyone! 2020 has been a crazy year, in the real world and in Franchise Ball. There are endless news stories to cover what has happened in the real world, so I thought I'd do a "recap" for Franchise Ball. At the start of 2020, the Yonkers River Rats were world champions, and at the end they quit. One year is a long time, in FB and in the real world. It is enough time for a team to be created, dominate for a couple seasons, and be gone. For example, the Pineapples franchise. The Pineapples were created in Season 80, near the new Year. They dominated, making a couple deep playoff runs, some seasons reaching the World Series. Then, in Season 91 (November), they Vanished and their team has been terminated. Another case was in my friend the Wind Surge. They started their team in Season 84, rose to glory, won a championship in 88, and quit as the number 1 seeding the world. This proves that one year can be a very long time in FB terms. In a few seasons the 80s and Early 90s could be mostly forgotten as teams from our time quit, and new teams join and become powerhouses. It can be amazing seeing tons of new teams rise into dominance, like in the Tacoma Storm as one of those teams in the past few seasons. Or like the Valencia Dragon Shrimp of the Mid 80s. One year is a long time, and I am looking forward to see what unfolds in 2021. The Storm and Dragon Shrimp were used as examples, if you weren't used as an example, it doesn't mean your team is bad.
